December, 2009 - 1995 inductee Bill Hanes of East Lansing has announced his retirement from drag racing, ending a half-century career. Bill, the 1973 NHRA Super/Stock World Champion, and his lifelong race partner, wife Irene, have sold their last race car to a racer in Colorado. Bill finished out the 2009 season with a respectable runner-up finish in the IHRA Northern Nationals held at Martin, MI.
