Inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1986.  Roger Gilligan heard a man from Chicago promoting races at the Allegan Fairgrounds. Chet Jones, uncle of track owner Marty Jones, mechanized on Gilligan's first car, a 1934 Ford coupe. Gilligan, still holds the Kalamazoo Speedway record of 11 straight feature wins set in 1952. Gilligan wins wherever he appears. He won a $1,000 first prize for a marathon event at Ionia in 1952, and the state title from Michigan's best drivers. March 28,1987 Roger was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports.
