Inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1986. Roger Gilligan heard a man from Chicago promoting races at the Allegan Fairgrounds. Chet Jones, uncle of track owner Marty Jones, mechanized on Gilligan's first car, a 1934 Ford coupe. Gilligan, still holds the Kalamazoo Speedway record of 11 straight feature wins set in 1952.
